It’s Great FSUUF

I spent the past weekend with gators. *gasp* I know. It’s surprising and unexpected, but that’s not even the weirdest part. I spent the weekend with gators and I actually really enjoyed it. *GASP* I will admit that I wasn’t all too excited to mingle at first, but once we warmed up to each other, we realized that we were more alike than different. The only … Continue reading It’s Great FSUUF

Miracles Happen

Whether you’ve heard it in the Princess Diaries movie or you’ve seen it happen first-hand, miracles do happen. The past month or so, the word miracle has played a key role in my life. I’ve gone from praying for one, to thinking they didn’t exist, to witnessing them for myself, to sharing them with everyone I know. As I posted earlier this month, I’ve spent some time doubting my … Continue reading Miracles Happen

It’s the Little things

For those of you who do not know, Bigs & Littles are like a mentor/mentee pairing that often takes place in organizations like sororities and fraternities and such. In Marching Chiefs, we have Bigs and Littles. Since my Pieces (clarinet) section has a wide array of males and females, my Little is a male. I chose to take a male as my Little because I am also … Continue reading It’s the Little things

Doubt and Faith: Doubting Faith

It’s no secret that I haven’t written in a while. I’ll probably inundate this blog with posts, but until then let me just update you as best as I can. That’s not to say that my happiness couldn’t be maximized with someone who has also found happiness within themselves. It’s not like I go … Continue reading Yeah, I’m “happy” being single

“DeGraff? Good luck”

The Strip, the tunnel, the power grid, the gate, the homeless, the residents; valid reasons for people to wish me luck. However I didn’t want a “good luck” from anyone, I wanted a “congratulations”. For those of you who do not know, I was selected to be a resident assistant in DeGraff residence hall for Fall 2016-Spring 2017. The stigmas associated with DeGraff hall aren’t … Continue reading “DeGraff? Good luck”

“Everything is fine”

Sometimes we say everything will be fine when we know that it won’t be, just as a way to try and trick ourselves into thinking it will all work out. Sometimes we say everything’s fine when it only seems to be fine, and once again it’s a way of fooling ourselves. Sometimes we even say everything’s fine in our messed up, sarcastic tones to ignore the reality of our privileged lifestyles. And sometimes we say everything’s fine when we desperately want things not to be. Continue reading “Everything is fine”

High school fri(end)ships

You’ll have your high school friends. And if you’re lucky, you might even keep in touch or go to the same university or end up as roommates. But more often than not, you’ll lose touch. And when you reconnect over the summer or the breaks, you’ll discover that your text messages and facetimes and facebook pokes and snapchat streaks won’t match up to the new person they’ve become and the new person you’ve become. That’s not to say you won’t keep some here and there; some people might surprise you. But in the meantime, be thankful for family, for college friendships, and for the whole life you have ahead of you to build and foster new friendships. Continue reading High school fri(end)ships
